PROCESSIONS 2018 took place on 10 June with mass celebratory participatory marches in London, Belfast, Cardiff and Edinburgh. Why? To celebrate women getting the vote 100 years ago thanks to the suffragettes who put their lives on the line to achieve this. Thousands of women came from all over to gather and march – wearing the suffragette colours of green, purple and white – they took over the streets and their voices were heard.
The Young Women Lead Report
After three committee meetings, the final step in the Young Women Lead programme was to present the report to the Scottish Government. Some of the young women attended First Minister’s Questions on 31st May and presented everything that we have learnt and developed over the last few months, supported by Linda Fabiani MSP.

On Sunday 10th of June, women and girls in Belfast, Cardiff, Edinburgh and London will walk together as part of this celebratory mass participation artwork.
Wearing either green, white or violet, the colours of the suffragette movement, the PROCESSIONS will appear as a flowing river of colour through the city streets.
On Friday 18th May, I joined the rest of the Young Women Lead team for our third and final committee meeting in the Scottish Parliament building.

Stellar Quines and Imaginate are co-hosting a PiPA event during this year’s Edinburgh International Children’s Festival.
It’s a great chance to share discussions and opinions about what it is like to be a parent or carer in the theatre and dance industry in Scotland, what challenges you might face and also what good practice you’d like to share and encourage.
We were excited to read about the plans announced this week that a memorial to commemorate Conscientious Objectors is to be installed in Princes St Gardens in April 2019.
The design will be unveiled as part of International Conscientious Objectors Day which is commemorated on 15 May and has been designed by Edinburgh artist Kate Ive. Her design will be unveiled at the Quaker House, Victoria Street, Edinburgh on 15 May. Read more

Youth Theatre Arts Scotland and The Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society are looking for 10 young people from across Scotland, aged 16 – 21, with an interest in learning about and developing skills in creative criticism in performance. Read more
We Are Civil have put a call out for female writers to submit a piece of writing as part of their Persistent & Nasty series that will be read out at a live event at Glasgow’s Centre for Contemporary Arts (CCA) on June 28th.
This events is part of their script reading and debate series for the female-identified voice in stage and screen. Read more
