Stellar Quines has released a new zine for International Women’s Day featuring work created by young women as part of our HOW TO CHANGE THE WORLD opportunity.
Every Friday for 5 weeks, we posted a video prompt by an artist sharing ideas and insights for getting creative on the page. Young women were invited to watch the videos and send us creative responses relating to the overall theme – HOW TO CHANGE THE WORLD.
We received over 100 fantastic submissions from young women across the UK. These creative pieces featured a range of themes, from calls for environmental sustainability to depictions of the realities of working from home.
Pieces were chosen to feature in the HOW TO CHANGE THE WORLD zine, released today to mark International Women’s Day. The creators of these pieces have also each been given a £30 book voucher for Lighthouse – Edinburgh’s Radical Bookshop.
We will send the zine to a variety of organisations and partners, including community centres and libraries. Please get in touch if you would like an zine sent to your organisation.
The guest artists who provided video prompts for the project were screenwriter and director Raisah Ahmed, playwright, dramaturg and drag performer Nelly Kelly, illustrator Eilidh Muldoon, writer Joana Avi-Lorie, and poet and performer Courtney Stoddart.
