A dramatic and provocative play about the lives of four women and a teenage boy seeking sanctuary in a women's refuge, written in response to the closure of 'safe houses' in Falkirk. Refuge weaves together the lives of ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances.
Stellar Quines commissioned Janet Paisley to write Refuge (her first full-length play) in 1995. In 1996 Refuge won the Peggy Ramsay Award for the development of new writing.
"A genuine talent for casting spells, evoking mood and exploding moments into worlds." (Scotland on Sunday on Janet Paisley.)
